November 11, 2012 : Two Sundays have passed since the Pell Bridge Run. It was quite a fun morning, yes very early morning. I was picked up at 3:40am to get to Newport to catch the school bus across the bridge !
This was one of my most memorable runs from 2011. This year, enjoying with with a few friends and couple of special girlfriends made it more special than last year.
I finished the Pell Bridge Run with a time of 42:38; pace of 10:40/M. A finishing time 2:27 minutes faster than last year.
The Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run Sponsored by Newport Hospital is a 4 mile run/walk produced by the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority. This event is not-for-profit and 100% of proceeds will go to support local not-for-profits.
This event is the most unique road race experience in the northeast! Once a year pedestrians are allowed to run or walk across the Claiborne Pell Bridge from Jamestown to Newport, R.I.
The primary goals of the Pell Bridge Run are to fundraise for local not-for-profit organizations and to promote a healthy/active lifestyle.
